Terms of Service

Last updated: 19 May 2026

1. Who we are

Hamar™ is a trading name of HAMAR SOLUTIONS LTD, a company registered in England & Wales under company number 15630253 ("Hamar", "we", "us", "our"). UK trade mark application UK00004385906. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms.

2. The service

Hamar provides software-as-a-service tools for UK and Irish sole traders to create quotes, send invoices, accept card payments via third parties, and manage related business records ("the service"). We are a record-keeping and workflow tool only — we do not provide financial, tax, accounting, legal, or insurance advice.

3. Your account & eligibility

Hamar is built for sole traders of any age — including the next generation of young entrepreneurs. The eligibility rules below balance UK GDPR’s digital age of consent with giving 13-17 year-olds genuine room to start a business under appropriate parental support.

  • 16 years and over: create an account on your own, full access to all features.
  • 13–16 years old (Young Founders): welcome on Hamar at £4/month (a quid a week, billed monthly). 13–15 year-olds need verified consent from a parent or legal guardian — during signup you provide their email address and we request approval before activating the account. When you turn 17, you move to the older Young Founder tier at £5/month. On your 18th birthday you auto-roll to the adult tier (Lifetime Founder if you signed up in the first 20, otherwise the £6.99 early-founder rate locked for 12 months). See the pricing page for full details. The 3-month hardship pause described in section 6 is also available to Young Founders.
  • Under-13s:we don’t accept signups, in line with the UK GDPR digital age of consent. If you’re under 13 and interested in Hamar, come back when you’re 13 with a parent’s blessing.
  • Stripe payment features require account holders to be 18+per Stripe’s own terms. 13–17 year-olds can use Hamar fully for quoting, invoicing, and record-keeping but cannot connect Stripe to take card payments until they turn 18. Bank transfer and cash workflows work fine at any age.
  • You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
  • You are responsible for keeping your password secure. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access.
  • You may have one account per person or business. Sharing credentials with others is not permitted.

4. Alpha / beta release

The service is currently provided in friends & family alpha. This means:

  • Features may change, break, or be removed at short notice.
  • Data integrity is best-effort but not guaranteed during alpha testing.
  • You should not rely on the service as your only system of record. Keep independent backups of critical data via the CSV export.
  • The service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE"during alpha, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the service for any unlawful purpose or to send spam.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the service or other users' data.
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or otherwise attempt to extract the source code.
  • Use the service to harass, abuse, defame, or harm any third party.
  • Resell or commercially redistribute the service without our written permission.

We may suspend or terminate your account immediately if you breach these rules.

6. Pricing & subscription

The service is free during the friends & family alpha. From the public launch on 1 July 2026 the service will be offered on a paid subscription basis. We will give you at least 14 days' notice before billing begins, and your continued use after that date constitutes acceptance of the published pricing.

Hardship pause. Any paying user — adult or Young Founder — may request a one-time 3-month subscription pause during any rolling 12-month period if they can show that a project they relied on has suffered a turnover shortfall. Submit a brief account of the situation (with evidence such as a quote, invoice, or written confirmation from the client where possible) to hello@hamar.io. If approved, your subscription is paused via Stripe for three months and resumes automatically thereafter. Approval is manual and at the operator's discretion.

Card payments collected from your clients are processed by Stripe Payments UK Ltd, who are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Hamar does not hold or transfer customer funds. Stripe's fees are deducted at source by Stripe.

7. Your data

You retain all rights to the data you input into Hamar (clients, quotes, invoices, line items, notes). We claim no ownership over it.

You can export all your data at any time as CSV from within the app — quotes, invoices, clients, line items, the lot.

If you cancel your subscription, we keep your account data on ice for 60 days so you can pick up where you left off if you come back. Restart your subscription within that window and everything is exactly as you left it.

At the end of the 60-day window we send you your data back. We package a ZIP file containing all your quotes (CSV + PDFs), invoices (CSV + PDFs), client list (CSV), line item templates (CSV), uploaded logo, business profile, and notes timeline — emailed to the address on your account. You get a complete copy of your business records for your own record-keeping. Only after that do we remove our copy.

Financial records exception: for HMRC compliance we retain anonymised invoice and payment records for 6 years from the end of the relevant financial year. These records are stripped of personal data and used only to satisfy our own tax-compliance obligations — never for marketing, never shared, never used to identify you.

Our handling of personal data is described in the Privacy Policy.

8. Intellectual property

The Hamar service, software, brand, logo, and all related intellectual property are owned by HAMAR SOLUTIONS LTD or its licensors. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the service for your own business purposes for as long as your account is active.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability to you for any and all claims arising out of or in connection with the service is limited to the greater of (a) the fees paid by you in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) £100.

We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, or business interruption, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for:

  • Death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
  • Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
  • Any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law.

10. Termination

You may close your account at any time by emailing hello@hamar.io. We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms or if we cease offering the service.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified to you by email and will take effect when you next sign in to the service. Continued use after that point constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England & Wales. Any dispute arising under or in connection with these terms is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England & Wales.
